Flat Iron

Description

“With this pair of trivets, we wanted to pay homage to the old iron stove, still present today in many old country houses in Sweden” says Mårten Claesson. The typical 19th century wood burning stoves with their blackened cast iron rings were made in different sizes enabling the hotplate to be adjusted. These rings are the inspiration for the Flat iron. This pair sit within each other one for a frying pan one for a saucepan. Made from blackened cast iron and the process not dissimilar to the casting blacksmiths use these trivets have a grainy surface that tell the tale of its process of manufacture, this texture is not an imperfection but a story of a process. Finished with oil dipping adds a mild corrosion resistance.
